AN ADVENTURE FOR SENSES

FLORIS LONDON "CHYPRE MAGNETISM" BESPOKE EAU DE PARFUM

With the year coming to an end, I find it so mysterious how December still holds surprises. For an example: who knew I would be creating my own personal fragrance now, or maybe shall we try ever?! Indeed it is true. Floris London kindly invited me to come create my own fragrance as a Christmas experience in the hands of Bespoke Perfumer Nicola Pozzani, who guided me through the world of scents. For someone who primarily uses the sense of smell to locate the nearest pizzeria, this was indeed unexplored territory.

As you might be able to tell, a finely tuned sense of smell is not exactly my largest virtue, so the expertise of Nicola was crucial to creating a scent that spoke to my heart. This as with all bespoke takes you on a luxurious journey making you more aware of your own taste, and together with the perfumer you create a record that will stay with Floris forever.

I was taken through a range of base notes, slowly selecting which supplementing notes I liked to go with it, creating a unique product completely personal to you. I fell for a base of Chypra, a woody scent that dates back to the 1920s, with top notes of Woody Amber, a fresh Marine and a hint of Almond Blossom. I'm doing my very best to savour it, but as I should have expected from a fragrance completely created from my taste, I absolutely love it. Self discipline just met its match this Christmas.

JOURNEY TO THE STARS

Selfridges Christmas Window PorcelainSelfridges Christmas BuildingSelfridges Christmas Window

Selfridges will forever be the luxurious home I only live in during opening hours, and the perfect place to detour prior to any important event, as it is practically impossible to leave this place without smelling delightfulNow just under two months away from one of the year's grandest celebrations, this magical place infamous for its Christmas window displays transforms into a beautiful setting for inspiration and casual day dreaming.

This year the theme is one of the cosmical kind, with each window facing Oxford Street representing each one of the 12 astrological signs. The passionate scorpio in me had me jumping between each window, SnapChatting my friends their designated windows. Moving inside I was met by no less than my homie Santa, who joined by one of the Elfridges showed me around in Selfridges, confirming me in my preconceived conclusions that it truly is the ultimate Christmas destination.

My favourite thing from the whole theme, is the fact that you can shop by star sign, so whether your brother is an Aquarius or your aunt is Libra, they've made a fine selection of luxury Christmas gifts inspired by each sign, characteristic to their personalities.

When I thought the 5-year old in me couldn't be more stimulated, all was followed by breakfast at the Forest Restaurant and Cabin Bar on the rooftop, and not to brag here, but I got a polaroid with Santa. I can't see how it's going to get any better from here.

COPENHAGEN CHRISTMAS

FINAL CALL FOR COPENHAGEN

Currently writing from lovely Copenhagen and I cannot tell you how close we came to missing Christmas. It all started with a passport gone MIA. The search started at 7pm and lasted all night. By 3am, my beautiful flatmate Amy and her cousin Eliza had joined the panicked search.
Long story short, I threw the last few things into my suitcase: lenses, chargers, toothbrush, put my glasses and boots on and there was a whole lot of running before sitting down in seat 4C from London bound for Copenhagen.
However, as is always the way, something had been left behind... I quickly went pale when I realised that my trusty travel companion, my Olympus EPL-7, had sadly not made the voyage. Fortunately, Amy had brought her EPL-6, so all was not lost and my poor lenses wouldn't spend their holidays gathering dust. More in detail, I had brought my 12mm and my 75mm lens two of my favourites for city and portrait shoots, but without the house of the camera there would have been no photos for Christmas. Olympus put in a little Christmas competition for you guys! If you create your Christmas wish list here, you can win your favourite PEN accessories.

LAST FEW GIFTS

We come to this time every year when the last few presents need to be found. From watches and cameras, to tea and traditional home-made biscuits, you can always find the perfect gift for the ones you love. And afterwards, there's nothing quite like popping into Mormors CafĂ© for a well-earnt rest in their beautifully decorated parlour. There's something about they way they have managed to collect things from Danish everyday culture and connecting so many points in Danish history, that has made it such a safe spot for me to return home to.

Like with noses turning red from the cold, coming inside where it's toasty and warm has an effect on cameras too, which can be a fun thing to play around with! Lenses often tend to get condense on them, and to create the shot to the left just below, I waited till the worst was gone and took my shot.

GIFT GUIDE FOR THE GUYS IN YOUR LIFE

BARBOUR SHIRT / ROTRING ARTPEN / BESPOKE LEATHER NOTEBOOKBARBOUR INTERNATIONAL WOOL SCARF / N O W CUTTING BOARD / SQUARE TRADE GOODS CO. CANDLE / NUUNA NOTE BOOK / KAIBOSH GLASSES / BARBOUR INTERNATIONAL BACK PACK

Every year, just about this time, my normal Christmas crazy turns into Christmas panic, mainly because I'll still be missing the main gifts for the men in my life. This year, I decided I'd be on the outlook in better time, collecting things I thought would jazz it up a little from the usual 3-pack socks and musky deodorants, and made the above selection (if you're male and I'm spending Christmas with you, step away from this post!).

I'd like to think it's appreciated when girls have some kind of sartorial influence in mens' life, and if the shirt is nice with special details such as this one in asphalt blue, there's no reason to frown over soft presents. My personal favourite of all of the above, is the wool scarf from Barbour International, which I might or might not have planned for various future outfits already. The best gifts are the ones you can use care for too, right? And although it's pure wool, I was surprised to discover, that it's the softest thing and won't leave your partner / father / brother / you scratching away!

HOPE THIS WILL HELP GET THE LAST FEW CHRISTMAS PRESENTS IN PLACE!
