#FWINSTOCKHOLM with OLYMPUS part II

I have spent three days in snowy Stockholm to take part in the AW15 Fashion Week with Olympus PEN. My first dilemma when arriving to this beautiful city for the first time: should I speak Danish or English here? I found myself awkwardly juggling between the two - the languages conveniently have many similarities, but still.. One thing, that connected me to the people of the city despite our slight language differences, was the cause of my travel. Swedish fashion and Swedish design.

One thing is for certain, the 70s have returned to us!
Good news for an early 90's kid like me, who didn't get to experience that decade on close hold - but the clothes lives on, and sharing is caring after all. At the shows it was everything from double buttoned chestnut leather skirts from Fillippa K to rough textures and turtlenecks at House of Dagmar. I was especially breath taken with this textured jumper from last mentioned designer. The Swedes know what they're doing when it comes to fashion (and candy, and furniture, and the list goes on).

I was so glad to have my PEN along with me and it was fun travelling to the Fashion Week and really put it to the test. All photos have been shot with my EPL-7, and I must say, if there's anything that makes my knees go soft about this camera, it's the remote shooting! I had some great girls to help me for the shots I'm featured in (thank you RebeccaChloë!), but with the feature, I have been my own assistent a few times, and it's oh so fun.. Any who, on to the Copenhagen Fashion Week now, and so excited for the shows and people there! Make sure to follow on instagram for in-between-posts updates.

MUCH LOVE

PREPARING FOR FASHION WEEK WITH MY PEN

Come end January, and it is time! The fashion weeks have begun, and models, photographers, editors and bloggers (heyaa!) are coming together from all over to see what the movers and shakers of those hot spots on the world are coming up with. As you are reading this, I am well on my way to Stockholm, which is the next city on the map to host the fashion party, and I'm beyond excited!

Now, a fair bit of preparation goes in to attending fashion weeks, and the process beforehand is the still before the storm. The cherished moments of quietly planning with the odd chaotic clothes crisis - oh the fun. Last mentioned made me purchase a short vintage 60s dress yesterday, to wear with knee high boots, but more on that another time. My camera is of course my most essential companion and accessory at fashion week, so the fact, that my leather case just so happen to match my other fashion week companion, my Chanel no. 5 for those special occasions, well, hello for a match!

In my preparation, I have kept my beauty routine to a minimum, leaving skin bare and let whichever red spots that came go untouched, unconcealed and instead focused my energy on my photography. For the fashion weeks, my PEN will be joined by my 12mm f2.0 lens for some scenic shots and my 75mm f1:1.8 for capturing portraits, and in-between-shows-coffees. I'm really enjoying how light I've become at the fashion weeks, and it's not because I've finally quit my daily in-take of whipped cream (one needs supplements for the soul), but because I'm not carrying heavy equipment around. Handy much? I think so! I started putting bricks in my bag, just to slowly get used to the difference.. With good preparation pre fashion week, planning outfits before being thousands of miles away from your closet, fashion week runs rather smoothly, and I can't wait to show you, what I'll be up to these times!

DESIGNING FOR THE PEN

VINTAGE JUMPSUIT / LEE SHIRT

One of the stories my parents will happily tell at a dinner party, if the subject ever lands on how I was as little, is how they would know that if I went quiet, something was up. Often, they would find me "customizing" the walls with permanent markers, ink, paints, anything I could find to peppen up the off-white in any designated corner of the house. There's something so fun about playing with a white canvas, and by having the exciting opportunity of designing a lens-strap for the Olympus PEN, being the UK blogger ambassador, I had no doubt where to start.
Having been to art school, and often using inks for my projects, my table and floor (there's a rug there now..) would often by accident get some splashes of colour on them. As accidental as it was, I quite enjoyed the contrast between the white colour of my desk juxtaposed with the different intensities of the ink, creating this completely random yet beautiful and simple print. I love the look of the PEN and a lens-strap is such a fun way to personalize the look.

The lens-strap will be available as a limited edition online and will be made in white leather. Dates are still to be confirmed, but I hope you enjoyed the little sneak peak and hearing about the design-proces, and of course I'm excited to share the final product with you!

COPENHAGEN CHRISTMAS

FINAL CALL FOR COPENHAGEN

Currently writing from lovely Copenhagen and I cannot tell you how close we came to missing Christmas. It all started with a passport gone MIA. The search started at 7pm and lasted all night. By 3am, my beautiful flatmate Amy and her cousin Eliza had joined the panicked search.
Long story short, I threw the last few things into my suitcase: lenses, chargers, toothbrush, put my glasses and boots on and there was a whole lot of running before sitting down in seat 4C from London bound for Copenhagen.
However, as is always the way, something had been left behind... I quickly went pale when I realised that my trusty travel companion, my Olympus EPL-7, had sadly not made the voyage. Fortunately, Amy had brought her EPL-6, so all was not lost and my poor lenses wouldn't spend their holidays gathering dust. More in detail, I had brought my 12mm and my 75mm lens two of my favourites for city and portrait shoots, but without the house of the camera there would have been no photos for Christmas. Olympus put in a little Christmas competition for you guys! If you create your Christmas wish list here, you can win your favourite PEN accessories.

LAST FEW GIFTS

We come to this time every year when the last few presents need to be found. From watches and cameras, to tea and traditional home-made biscuits, you can always find the perfect gift for the ones you love. And afterwards, there's nothing quite like popping into Mormors Café for a well-earnt rest in their beautifully decorated parlour. There's something about they way they have managed to collect things from Danish everyday culture and connecting so many points in Danish history, that has made it such a safe spot for me to return home to.

Like with noses turning red from the cold, coming inside where it's toasty and warm has an effect on cameras too, which can be a fun thing to play around with! Lenses often tend to get condense on them, and to create the shot to the left just below, I waited till the worst was gone and took my shot.

MAGICAL VIENNA WITH OLYMPUS

When it comes to Christmas, I have never grown out of my childish enthusiasm. Shout Christmas Market and I'm like a moth to a flame. As you might know, I am the proud UK blogger ambassador of the Olympus PEN, so when they told me, they would send me Vienna, known for it's beautiful Christmas markets on Stephansplatz, you can imagine how long it took me to shout: "Jolly yeah!". I was joined by 50 other bloggers from around Europe, also PEN enthusiasts, and it was truly unique connecting with so many European bloggers in one place, and of course we were all over town collecting Christmas memories with our PENs. I'm very careful with what I put my name to, and wouldn't waste your ears with anything I didn't believe in, but I'm truly so happy with this camera. Quality and performance is the only thing I look for when choosing a camera, so when it also has fun features (my favourite is connecting it to your phone, for direct transferral) and is light weight, that's just a bonus! It's still a bit of a mystery to me, how it can perform so well, and not be a brick in my bag. It sure has made traveling a lot easier, and in Austria's beautiful capital city, the home of Sacher Torte, there was so many beautiful places and spots to capture! Only a quick touch down this time, but I'm so keen to visit this beautiful city again. Counting down for Christmas in Copenhagen now, only 11 days away!

Join in the Olympus PEN Generation here and see content from the other amazing ambassadors as well as my own.

HOPE YOU'RE HAVING AN ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL ADVENT
