COPENHAGEN COLOURS

VINTAGE COAT / ZARA TOP / AG JEANS / SENSO SHOES / S'NOB DE NOBLESSE SCARF

Calling in from Copenhagen, a city who's inhabitants are known for their muted outfits, the city itself has plenty to offer when it comes to colour. From Nyhavn to Gothersgade and beyond, every street you walk on offers all colours of the rainbow, making you feel you're walking around in a postcard.

The more time passes from the day I moved away, the more I appreciate the beauty of this city, and with many of my close friends and family being based here, it's a city I look forward to visiting every time the opportunity arises.

Current occupation? Hunting for Christmas presents.. If you feel like joining the party, tap srhmikaela into SnapChat and see Copenhagen with me!

STAPLES AND STRIPES

FINDERS KEEPERS TOP / VINTAGE PANTS / HUNTER BAG / CARAVELLE WATCH / GAS BIJOUX BRACELET

A quick little post from the home-office in London, who opted for a rainy look today, looking back at sunny days at the Copenhagen Fashion Week last week. I attended representing the Olympus PEN Generation, and although only being in the city for about 5 minutes (3 days), it was wonderful to be back to quickly meet with friends and pick up my ceremonial Danish frappé at Baresso (Denmark's answer to Starbucks) - I honestly don't know how these guys do it, and that comes from someone who used to work there at 15! Whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles? I'm going to pretend that was a rhetorical question. Until next time my homemade English iced lattes make up for it and help me get the work done, which is all I need for now.

HOPE EVERYONE'S GETTING READY FOR THE WEEKEND

A FEW MINUTES

MADS NØRGAARD BANDANA (USED AS TOP) / ZARA CULOTTES / ANDOTHERSTORIES FLATS / ZARA SHIRT / DANIEL WELLINGTON WATCH

It's always a pleasure being back in Copenhagen, with streets that offer beauty around every corner, amazing coffeeshops, a fantastic awareness of environment with everyone traveling on bikes and let's not forget, the home of some amazing people. Having lived there myself for five years, I'm fortunate enough to have some of them count as part of my close friend group, and needless to say, I always try and catch as many as possible. However long time I'm there for, it somehow only seems like a few minutes, and never enough to squeeze in all the people I'd planned to see, and although I should be used to it now, it keeps bugging me every time I'm in the plane seat slurping a ceremonial frappé (started this tradition every time I'm leaving Copenhagen airport - BEST frappés!).

Either way, I think a lot of us experience this when we leave to live in another country, away from people who have taken up such a big part of our daily lives, to all of a sudden be reduced to an occasional Skype call and a biannual meet-up. The affection is untouchable however, and that I believe should be the most important thing and goes beyond the borders that seperate.

MUCH LOVE, HOPE YOU'RE ENJOYING YOUR FRIDAY

SAKSPOTTS SHEARLING COAT / LEVIS JEANS / REISS BAG / NIKE SNEAKERS

Busy, busy bee. Don't you just know it, when you feel you're so busy running from place to place, that you might as well skip the trouble with your hair-routine and just fix it vertically with hair gel? This look has not yet been sported on the runway, to my knowledge, but with the current pace of 2015 and the wind coming from west, I'm sure Karl or Marc will see the demand of the trend.

In these times, with fashion weeks being on their high, my level of excitement equivals to being under the influence of a 5-cups-of-coffee-in-a-row-kick and as you can imagine from that, I love it but it doesn't relax me. If you have been following me on Instagram, you might have noticed, that I have a very soft spot for plants. Whenever I feel my mind is clotted, I always take time out of my schedule, however many fires are burning in my inbox, social media, to-do's etc. to take care of my plants (my 20m2 bedroom inhabits 16 alone). It sounds silly, but it completely calms me down to do this, and with my love for anything green and organic, you can imagine how much I love The Botanical Gardens. I had pinned down the Copenhagen Gardens in my recent Tour de Scandinavia for the fashion weeks, and it was a lovely calm moment out of my day.

I HOPE YOU HAVE ALL HAD A GREAT WEEKEND

BLAST FROM THE PAST

VINTAGE DRESS / TOPSHOP KNEE LENGTH BOOTS / PRADA SUNNIES / CARAVELLE WATCH / NORDENSTAM RINGS

It is always so good to be back in Copenhagen. And whilst fashion weeks all over have been shouting the sartorial message of the 70s, someone arrived in her one decade off vintage dress. Well knowing of this, as I stood in an East End vintage shop in London last week, my heart couldn't help but go soft for this Mary Quant-esque dress. I love how vintage allows us to enter a different age, as well as contemporary fashion keeping on referencing back to well-known, classical staple pieces. And although it is probably a rather good thing, that the mini has become slightly less mini, there still is nothing like the real thing.
I went to an amazing roundtable talk called the Fireside Chat during the Fashion Week in Stockholm, discussing the future of fashion and the garments we wear, with a reference to some of the worldly challenges we are faced with as a global community. And although we might be waiting for more political governing forces to act upon this, it's undeniable that we as users and consumers are the drops that make out the ocean. This might seem a bit uneasy to relate to at first, but I am so eager to share more of what I learnt at this amazingly inspiring talk with you. You guessed it; vintage, and passing on unloved garments is one of the things we can do to affect the cycle, and contemporary fashion keeps reminding us, that to be on the notes, it doesn't always matter whether your dress is from today or 40 years ago. Now that's pretty cool, hey?

HAVE A GREAT FRIDAY

LINING UP

ZARA SHIRT / ZARA GIRLFRIEND JEANS / POLLINI BOOTS / DANIEL WELLINGTON WATCH

I think I mentioned something about Scandinavians and stripes in the outfit recap, lining up (get it?) some of the stripes I wore last year. After a long and fantastic Christmas break in Denmark, we're at it again. My kryptonite, Zara, chose like everyone else to do a sale.. It annoys me how they know, I can't stay away.
Anywho, out of the store I left with stripes, denim and some white shirts (as long as nachos exist, I shall need more white shirts). I didn't last for long in there. In an ideal world, my way to tackle the slightly stressful experience of shopping would be to roll around shops in one of those inflatable plastic balls, originally used to walk on water with, whilst listening to the tunes of Enya. Haven't quite figured out how I would pick up the clothes, but we're still in the development phase.

HOPE YOU'RE ALL WELL

FLARE REFLECTIONS

VINTAGE COAT (similar here) / ACNE JEANS / VINTAGE COAT / POLLINI BOOTS / DANIEL WELLINGTON WATCH

Why was it I gave up flares again?
Oh I remember! They were constantly dragging along the ground, making best friends with puddles (cf. the photos above..) and if that wasn't enough, history has taught me, that they're not entirely safe. That's if you, like me, lack those extra 5 cm, to actually lift them off the ground because you, like me, are just a little bit too lazy to sow them up. I once tempted fate a bit too much by racing back from school against my older brother in my super duper awesome flower patched flares (I feel a DIY coming on!), and landed a crack in my front tooth. Just saying, don't just think flares are all peaceful and stuff just because they came from the 70s.

I know it might sound as if me and flares really just aren't a great match, but although it might not sound like it, this is my love declaration to flares. I'd like to think that we are still a good match despite disagreements, and that yes, we don't always get along, yes, we sometimes want to take each other to the ground - but no one ever said it was going to be easy! Vive the flares, for all their water gathering qualities and the fact that they make the 70s live on way past their bedtime.

HOPE YOU HAVE A GREAT START TO THE WEEK

COPENHAGEN CHRISTMAS

FINAL CALL FOR COPENHAGEN

Currently writing from lovely Copenhagen and I cannot tell you how close we came to missing Christmas. It all started with a passport gone MIA. The search started at 7pm and lasted all night. By 3am, my beautiful flatmate Amy and her cousin Eliza had joined the panicked search.
Long story short, I threw the last few things into my suitcase: lenses, chargers, toothbrush, put my glasses and boots on and there was a whole lot of running before sitting down in seat 4C from London bound for Copenhagen.
However, as is always the way, something had been left behind... I quickly went pale when I realised that my trusty travel companion, my Olympus EPL-7, had sadly not made the voyage. Fortunately, Amy had brought her EPL-6, so all was not lost and my poor lenses wouldn't spend their holidays gathering dust. More in detail, I had brought my 12mm and my 75mm lens two of my favourites for city and portrait shoots, but without the house of the camera there would have been no photos for Christmas. Olympus put in a little Christmas competition for you guys! If you create your Christmas wish list here, you can win your favourite PEN accessories.

LAST FEW GIFTS

We come to this time every year when the last few presents need to be found. From watches and cameras, to tea and traditional home-made biscuits, you can always find the perfect gift for the ones you love. And afterwards, there's nothing quite like popping into Mormors Café for a well-earnt rest in their beautifully decorated parlour. There's something about they way they have managed to collect things from Danish everyday culture and connecting so many points in Danish history, that has made it such a safe spot for me to return home to.

Like with noses turning red from the cold, coming inside where it's toasty and warm has an effect on cameras too, which can be a fun thing to play around with! Lenses often tend to get condense on them, and to create the shot to the left just below, I waited till the worst was gone and took my shot.

HAVE A BEAUTIFUL ADVENT AND MAKE SURE YOU ENTER THE OLYMPUS CHRISTMAS COMPETITION HERE
